According to Sun-Sentinel.com, Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown (ACL) is struggling to trust his knee again. "I think part of it is mental," Brown said. "I feel myself gathering when I make a certain cut or make a certain movement. I'm trying to get over the mental part of it, get everything flowing and react out of instinct instead of trying to think [about the injury]."
FFX: It takes a full season in the rear view before a running back can get back to full strength after suffering a torn ACL. This means that Brown most likely won't be spitting out RB1-type numbers in 2008, but he still makes a solid RB2 this upcoming fantasy season. If you do roll with Brown in '08, just be sure you handcuff him to Ricky Williams.
Giants LB Mathias Kiwanuka knows just how ex-Giant Jeremy Shockey feels for missing the team's run to the NFL title
According to BaltimoreSun.com, Baltimore offensive coordinator Cam Cameron plans on increasing RB Willis McGahee's workload in 2008. "There is no question in my mind that Willis McGahee can be a three-down back," Cameron said. "I think this is the right time in his career to do it. With his ability, there is no reason why he shouldn't excel on three downs."
FFX: This is why we shot down a report earlier this week that suggest that Ray Rice would threaten McGahee's 2008 production. Cam Cameron knows how to make a running back successful - He proved this in San Diego with LaDainian Tomlinson and he just proved his abilities again last year in Miami, where he turned Ronnie Brown into a top 2-3 fantasy rusher in games played. Under Cameron, McGahee could have a top 5-8RB season, but we do recommend that all McGahee owners handcuff the stud to Rice, as that Baltimore rushing game will produce no matter what in '08.
According to numerous reports, a day after he was cut by the Raiders, the Patriots have signed RB LaMont Jordan. According to reports, Jordan was also looking at signing with the Saints, but ended up inking the one-year deal with New England.
FFX: This is not good news for Laurence Maroney owners, as Jordan is certainly a capable rusher despite all of his back issues. The Patriots have already proved that we can't trust the way they use their running backs, so having a rusher with Jordan's upside right behind Maroney on the depth chart is a bit concerning. If Jordan is available in your league, make sure you grab him. Yea, he may not have a grip of time left in this league, but he is absolutely capable of being a solid NFL runner for at least two more seasons, especially in New England. Also, don't forget that he got off to a hot start in 2007 before falling victim to his back injury.
Peyton Manning still hasn't made it to training camp.
